According to the Annual Report of Public Security Household Registration in 2017, there were 119,886 registered residents in the county, 1,523 births and 2,014 deaths. By the end of 2017, there were 110,400 permanent residents. Among them, the urban population was 44,300, and the rural population was 66,200. The urbanization rate was 40.08%, increased by 2.08% over the previous year.
By the end of 2017, there were 46 schools of all levels and types in total in the county, with 14,696 students and 1,237 faculty members, including 1,180 full-time teachers. By the end of 2017, there were 10 primary schools with 6,298 students in total, including 977 newly-enrolled students, and 100% enrollment of primary school-age children; 12 junior high schools with 3,266 students in total, including 1,010 newly-enrolled students; 23 pre-schools with 3,368 students in total, including 3,180 newly-enrolled students; and 1 general senior high school with 1,764 students in total, including 659 newly-enrolled students.
A total of 52 patents were applied for and 12 patents were granted. 7 provincial and 1 municipal science and technology projects were applied for, with a fund of RMB 1.12 million in place. Publicity of popular science knowledge was intensified in an all-round way. The Lushan Science and Technology Museum received 120,000 visitors in 2017.
By the end of 2017, it had 53 art performance venues (including squares), 1 cultural center, 9 cultural stations (including 2 Comprehensive Cultural Stations of Demonstration Township at the provincial level), 1 public library and 40 rural libraries. In addition, it had 1 provincial cultural industry demonstration park. By the end of 2017, it had 1 museum, 1 cultural relic protection and management organization, 4 national cultural heritage sites, 9 provincial cultural heritage sites, and 8 municipal cultural heritage sites. Moreover, it had 3 items on the provincial intangible cultural heritage list and 2 items on the municipal intangible cultural heritage list. 307 rural radios have been built, and the wireless digital television has been fully available. By the end of 2017, there were 2 radio stations, 1 TV station, 1 radio and TV station, 1 medium and short wave transmitter as well as relay station. The overall coverage of both radio and TV was 98.2%. And there were 4,813 cable TV subscribers.
By the end of 2017, there were 130 medical and health institutions in the county, including 5 hospitals, 9 health centers, 34 village clinics, 79 clinics and 3 professional public health institutions. It provided 484 beds, and had 525 practitioners in hospitals and health centers, including 160 licensed (assistant) doctors and 260 registered nurses. There were 1 women and children health institution with 8 licensed (assistant) doctors and 5 registered nurses and 9 township health centers with 5 licensed (assistant) doctors and 43 registered nurses.
The investment in sports and fitness projects was increased, and the extensive fitness program was carried out. 4 fitness paths were newly built in 2017. By the end of 2017, it had 1 gymnasium that was opened to the public and received 32,900 person-times throughout the year.
The annual per capita disposable income of urban residents was RMB 27,047, increased by 8.8%. Among them, the income from wage and salary was RMB 19,483, up 7.7%. The per capita consumption expenditure of urban residents was RMB 17,703, up 7.6%. Among them, the residential expenditure rose by 14.3%, the household goods and services expenditure rose by 6.5%, and the transportation and communications expenditure fell by 1.4%. The annual per capita disposable income of rural residents was RMB 11,230, increased by 9.2%. Among them, the income from wage and salary was RMB 6,720, up 7.9%. The annual per capita consumption expenditure of rural residents was RMB 12,231, up 8.8%. Among them, the residential expenditure increased by 10.5%, the household goods and services expenditure decreased by 2.9%, and the transportation and communications expenditure increased by 42.2%, and the health care expenditure increased by 4.3%.
By the end of 2017, 30,644 urban employees participated in the basic endowment insurance, of which 12,415 were employees of enterprises. 24,585 persons participated in the basic endowment insurance for rural residents and non-working urban residents. 104,110 persons participated in the basic medical insurance for rural residents and non-working urban residents, and 10,393 persons in the basic medical insurance for urban employees. 5,496 persons participated in the unemployment insurance, 6,586 persons in the work-related injury insurance, and 4,124 persons in the maternity insurance.
